Giving Lives Meaning...

About Us

Our orphanage is a residential institution devoted to the care of orphans—children whose biological parents are deceased or otherwise unable or unwilling to care for them.
Biological parents, and sometimes biological grandparents, are legally responsible for supporting children, but in the absence of these, no named godparent, or other relatives willing to care for the children, they become a ward of the state, and orphanages are one way of providing for their care, housing and education.

  • The mission is to take care of the less privilege and the downtrodden, training them from early child care development to pre-nursery primary, secondary to the University Level.
  • The vision is giving lives a meaning, making them useful to themselves, to their communities and to the entire Nation and also develops them morally, physically and academically.
  • Your donation can change the life of a child today by making .

Why Us? Learn More About Our Story

Our Orphanage home has put countless smiles on the children's faces over the years. This is the motivation behind our progress.

  • 01 Non Child Adoption & Fostering

Adoption is an act of love. It must come from a desire to love a child. It must be motivated by our love for God and humanity. It must be because we want to raise a child for God as a demonstration of our love. Every child is a gift from God.

  • We started our full operations in August 12th 2016 with 3 children and a Nanny who takes care of these children, but today we have 29 children with a baby boy of 2 months old, and the home is given custody of these children through the Ministry of Women Affairs. We are duly registered with the corporate affairs commision where we obtained our certificate for planning and budget.

  • Mercy Orphanage was approved in 2016 by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social development after all approvals by the police, Local government and by the head of the IkpobaOkha community of Edo State, Nigeria. A certificate was given before the commencement of operation.

About The Founder

Mrs M.O Oyarekhua

Meet our distinguished founder who is also the Chairman of the board of trustees of Mercy orphanage Benin. She is from Edo North - Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria.
With an illustrious career as a seasoned educator, she began the journey of establishing this organization in August 2016.
She has her B.Ed. from the prestigious University of Benin, coupled with her NCE from Ekiadolo. Her passion for providing a loving and nurturing environment for underprivileged children led her to start the orphanage home, which began with just three children and a nanny.
As a result of her tireless efforts and dedication, the population of the orphanage home has grown to 25 children, with some currently writing their WAEC, while others are in SS1 and JSS1.
The orphanage also caters to toddlers and primary school children.
The organization is registered with the local government, state government, and the community, with certifications from notable bodies such as EFCC, SCUML, Certificate of Budget and Planning, and CAC. Her experience as a former director in Subeb has given her a wealth of knowledge and expertise in managing and overseeing the operations of the orphanage home.
